Hi Everyone:

I was wondering if its possible to increase the maximum seconds of the New Email Notification beyond its default max of 30 seconds.
I have a user that doesn't always notice the little envelope icon when he has new mail and when he's away from his desk, sometimes its for more than 30 seconds.

Thanks!

It can be done, but you'll need a calculator...

As always, backup your registry first or set a restore point.

Open regedit and navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\DesktopAlerts\TimeOn

If this key isn't available choose Edit-> New-> DWORD Value and name it "TimeOn" (without the quotes but case sensitive).

Now for the calculator - the value is in milliseconds, so the max value shown below is more than 50 days...calculate an appropriate value.

Double click the key to give it a decimal value between 0 and 4294964295 (in Hexadecimal value this will be fffff448).
4,294,967,295 is the maximum value you can give to a DWORD value in the registry which is 32 bit .

Hope this helps

MD
