Most of the email sent out do arrive, however, we are having difficulty sending to an email domain like COX.NET. I am suspicious of DNS. Is there a way I can change DNS server addresses my servers use to as a lookup?

For example, in the olden WinNT40 days, you simply change the ip address in the DNS section in the TCP/IP properties. Now, it is common practice to point the DNS address to the domain controllers own IP.

Your problem is most likely caused by a bad RDNS entry. Go to and do a Reverse DNS lookup on your public IP to verify that it resolves back to your company without any errors.

I would bet money that you also have problems sending mail to Hotmail, Yahoo, MSN and AOL.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
