Email messages staying in inbox..

I am running Sendmail on an HP-UX 10.20 server. I have had a permissions problem and now when I download my email to Outlook, the messages stay in the inbox on the server and are downloaded with every mail check. I am unsure what is causing the mail to stay. Please advise anyone who can help....

In your Outlook Client, goto TOOLS, SERVICES, then hilite the INTERNET EMAIL. Click PROPERTIES, then goto the advanced tab and be sure that the 'Leave Email on Server' is cleared.

This may be a silly one, but if rouse's suggestion doesn't work, we had a similar issue, but affected all mail clients, and that setting [leave mail on server] was off. It was actually caused by bad caching on our proxy server. Restarting the service flushed it, and the problem stopped. I managed to work it out to be the proxy because the main account that suffered the issue was empty on the server, yet the client kept picking up the same emails. --
