email List single recipient display

When I send email to a distribution list, I would like each recipient's email to display only the receipient's name in the to field. I do not want the other recipient's names listed or available. Is it possible to accomplish this objective reliably.

Send it as a BCC to the list, this will hide the other recipient's names.

Hmmm. I was once advised that when you BCC, that hides the list from display, but that the additional blind copied addresses ride along with the email, so that it is still available to the recipient, and is actually displayed in some email applications configured appropriately (or should I say inappropriately). Is this not so.
