Have a problem folks, maybe someone can shed some light on. We currently run MS Exchange 5 on an NT4 platform. Our HQ has pushed all of the newest IE updates on our system, and thus pushed Outlook as well. (via Unicenter)

Many of our users are experiencing "Send To" errors, and it is pulling up Outlook instead of Exchange. In the "Internet Settings", Exchange doesn't show, so I can't set the default.

Does anyone know what registry key is used to specify the default email proggie? Thanks!

search66,

Do you mean that is calling up Outlook instead of IE? Exchange is the server component. IE handles pop mail and I think that is what you are talking about.

You don't need to mess with the registry. Select the IE icon on the desktop, right click and choose Properties. Under the "Programs" tab, select IE as the default mail program.

If you want to do this as a blanket change for the office, you can do a local security policy and roll it out to everyone.

Hope that helps.

Not really. When a user is in Word or Excel, and does a "Send To Mail Recipient"; it opens Outlook instead of Exchange.

I think that Unicenter fricked something up, and nuked something in the registry/relationships...

I think the setting you need is in Internet Explorer Tools Options Programs. In there is the option to set the program launched for email. Check if it says Outlook and can be changed to Exchange.

MS Exchange was a utility that came with NT workstation and server and was a free client side app linking to Exchange Server. Not pretty, but fast. And it works.

That was my first stop along the way... Since Exchange is so 86'ed (but functional and secure), there isn't a drop down for it in those settings.

I'm going to try and leave it BLANK if possible, and see if that helps.
