Kinda new to Exchange so bear with me.

The exchange server was set-up before I started here and I've noticed that there are no email headers for any interal email and that the email headers are removed from any forwarded emails.

We are getting a lot of spam and I've set-up a spam email address for the users to forward the spam. This is to gauge the number of spam emails coming into the company and to see where they're coming from. Unfortunately when a message is forwarded all the header info is removed.

We only have the one exchange server.

Is there any way to keep the headers when forwarding an email?

Thanks

Robert

They could attach the spam email to a new email to that mailbox which will then retain the headers for it.

Just curious what you hope to gain by finding out where the spam is coming from for each one? It will be so diverse that you're better off going with a proven spam filter, like GFI, or a Barracuda, etc.

Thanks Davetoo,

I set-up the spam email account primarily to collect the spam. This is to collect enough info to justify a barracuda box. GFI would be to costly.

The headers would be useful for the trainee so he can find out more about email and how it works.

Thanks

Robert

I have a Barracuda in front of GFI...over 20 million spams blocked since 12/05.

Many anti-spam solutions will give you a trial period so there would be no up-front costs, and you can use the reports from that trail to justify moving forward with the purchase.

That's what we did with iHateSpam.

Good luck,
