I'm running an exchange 2003 server, and I have two routes to the internet via different providers. I can set up routes inbound so that users can access the mail server via https from either of the two internet connections, but only one of them at a time. The route to the internet has to be the default gateway on the server.

Is there any way to set this up so that i can access mail from both of the two internet connections at the same time?

Regards

You could set up another A record for your OWA URL, and point it to the second connection. For example, you have one that's like

A mail.domain.com 10.10.10.10
A mail.domain.com 10.10.10.11

That will send people somewhat evenly to the two different connections, but will not take into account any outage.

The alternative would be to manually change the A record when you want users to start using the other connection. But that can be problematic due to TTL and DNS caching.

Hi that isn't quite what i was trying to ask (sorry for being a bit unclear!). I've got things set up like this at the moment:
A mail1.domain.com 10.10.10.10
A mail2.domain.com 10.10.10.20
I dont mind using it like that, however when i try to connect to:
it works, but when i connect to :
it doesn't work.

the mail1.domain.com on 10.10.10.10 is a static IP on one internet connection, and the 10.10.10.20 is a static IP on a different internet connection. Internally the 10.10.10.10 ip, connects to the mail server from firewall 10.0.3.245 and the 10.10.10.20 ip connects to the mail server from firewall 10.0.3.251. When my gateway on the exchange server is set to 10.0.3.245 it's working, and if i change the gateway to 10.0.3.251 i can then connect to the mail2.domain.com from the internet.

I'm not sure if thats made things clearer or more cloudy?

Thanks for your input!
James
