Hello,

I'm having trouble getting exchange server 5.5 to forward e-mail’s to an external account. I have looked at the FAQ's sections and found faq10-150 which discusses this issue. I have tried the solution but it is still not working. To set up an external account I created a new user account and added an "internet Email" to it. I left the X.400 and local domain accounts on it. Then I directed the e-mail I want to be forwarded to the new account. I tried this for internal emails and it works. (i.e. no external account is entered. The email is just sent to the new accounts local email domain, and it is received). Could there be additional places that autoforwarding may be turned off? Could I be setting up my external email account incorrectly on the custom recipient? I could use some recommended actions or some specifics on how to set the external email up. I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong.

Thanks a bunch!

~Ryan.

Just to clarify, did you create a New Mailbox or a New Custom Recipient? You'd want to do the latter, and give that recipient an appropriate SMTP (internet) address.

That was the problem. I was setting up a New Mailbox and adding a SMTP email account to it. Setting up the New Custom Recipient worked like a charm! Thanks for the help!
