I agree with Wullie. mailto: forms based in HTML are generally frowned upon, to be honest they are always frowned upon. If this is a business site or an organization, using this script will show the world your incapabilities.
I suggest you find a host which allows perl, asp, or php and grab one of their codes. It's a bit tougher, but better for the server, better for your email, and better for the guests.
This code is global, any system or browsers which allows HTML can display and use this page.
Just another note: If your host does not allow you to use server side scripts, then you also have the option of using an external server to handle the form requests, the user is totally unaware of this being another server.
All that is involved with this solution is to find a company that provide remotely hosted form scripts.
You change your form action to reference their server, then the script on their server re-directs to a thank you or error page on your server. The user is unaware that an external server is being used.
I provide this service to a few of my clients, this allows them to use a different host with no CGI capabilities and still process mail through a mail script rather than using a mailto link.
This option is a chargable service though, others provide it free but they flood the thank you page with adverts which looks even worse that having a mailto link.
Thanks to you I figured out how to do it. I have got it running now on Response-o-matic, and from the testing I've done myself, seems to be working flawlessly.
