I have a client who is experiencing some delays when opening NEW emails. The message that displays is:
"Outlook is retrieving data from the Microsoft Exchange Server server_name"

I thought it may have something to do with his AntiVirus but I disabled. Is there a setting that I could check?

I also have a thread open on this. It is caused by excessive traffic on your network. I have found no way to resolve this issue. It only started when I updated my network to Outlook 2002. Have you done a recent update?

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

During the week I found a fix for this that (so far) has worked in all systems I've found affected (two Exchange servers, one running 5.5 on NT 4 and the other running Ex 2000 on Win2K Server. Accounts on both servers are affected. On the desktops we are using Outloook XP on Win2K Pro SP4).
The magic fix is:
1. Logon as someone with administrator rights over the PC.
2. Install Office XP service pack 3
3. Reboot the PC.

I'd be interested to know if this works in other environments as well.

I'll give it a shot.
