We have a Mac OSX 10.3.9 server which we use for our email server. This usually works just fine but occasionally, a teacher within the school network will email another teacher one morning and the recipient will not receive it until the following morning (morning isn't the issue, just the example). This had been happening occasionally from the outside world but now from within our own network. The one email in question was just resent the next day with the same content to the same individual. I am puzzled why this would happen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bill

Well,

I haven't worked with the Mac SMTP server, but they're all pretty much the same: In general the server will try to deliver mail immediately but, if that fails, it will try again after a fixed amount of time elapses - usually 1 hour.

At a blind guess here, I would check what the retry interval is for your server - make sure that it really is one hour and not, for example one day.
