Looking for a good email archive software to replace our current one that is no longer in business. :(

I was looking at Nearpoint but it appears the company has been sold and I haven't actually been able to contact anyone that can sell it which scares me about possible support down the road.

Looking for feedback on what people are using in their enviroment.

I believe Nearpoint is now owned by Iron Mountain.

Avoid EMC Source One. We have it and it's crap.

Also what is your main requirement for archive software?
Journaling, stubbing / shortcutting

NearPoint is a really nice solution. I say that not because I used to work there, but because it really works. And it does so without relying on any journalling. Don't use a product that uses journalling if you can avoid it. Journalling induces a significant increase in IOPS on your Exchange server. In fact, with some products, it can be up to a 1200% increase.

NearPoint doesn't require additional software to be installed on the server, or the client. It captures EVERYTHING, unlike those that use journalling. Everything happens off-server from Exchange. You get a full archiving and recovery solution.

Primarily concerned with journaling for compliance purposes but also for keeping exchange at a reasonable size. I don't really like the stub feature our current one has so I'm not really looking for that.

I liked Nearpoint's features when researching it last year, but since they were bought by Iron Mountain and then sold again to another company, I can't seem to find anybody that will actually sell it.

Journalling doesn't get you ANYTHING. It's a poor solution, and from a compliance perspective, it does not get all data. Let me track down some contact info for you for NearPoint.

I don't mean exchange journaling, I mean archiving every email. ;-)

Thanks for the contact info.

We use EAS which is sold by Autonomy.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

Autonomy themselves were bought recently by HP. That gives HP four archive solutions: HP IAP, EAS (zANTAZ) Message Manager(CA) and NearPoint (Mimosa)
