Email after backup completion

Can anyone tell me if its possible to generate an email after an arcserve backup has completed with details of which tapes have been used - simple I know but it's driving me mad !!

Yes,
Open the alert manager and go to the SMTP. Configure the SMTP and you'll get an email after the backup is complete.

thanks for the reply.

I have SMTP configured and I do get an email on job completion , which includes the job log, but does not include info on which tapes were used in the backup job.

There seems to be something which may prove useful in Report option within Arcserve which I'm looking at now.

I come from an HP Data Protector background and things that were easily configured within DP are difficult / not even available within Arcserve - hey hum !!

Welcome to the world of Arcserve. You'll find that everything is not as easy as one might like it to be. I don't know anything about HP data protector but if it can send which tapes to use in the next backup job it's a lot more than arcserve can. The info is however available in the activity log.

for this you have to cofigure the Report Writer utility. You can customize reports using this utility and have the outpunt send in .csv or .xml format. With the Job Scheduler Wizard and the -a switch you can also have it automatically emailed (to the default Alert recipient which you have to setup first using the Alert Manager) or send to a location (for example an intranet website).
