Hi,

I noticed that when I add a user to a Sharepoint site the data is pulled from AD, however, the problem is what if the user had their email address updated in AD but is not reflected in Sharepoint? Is there a quick way to fix this? I've updated the email address in AD but Sharepoint still has the old email addresses when I initially added the user to the site. This is a big problem as you can see when you have a users who have restricted access to certain sites but their email addresses may be different for each site since the day they were given access. Any help would be great! Thank you.

If you have Sharepoint Portal Server, Under Site Settings, User Profile, Ausdiences and Personal Sites click on Manage Profile Database. From there you can configure profile import, and import manually or on a schedule from AD.

If you just have WSS you should be able to a user at I think anyway, haven't tried it.

Cheers

Hello,

as Ouzojd says with the portal server you have some more options. However when you add a user to a sharepoint site, once the user is added there is no "real active sync/connection" with the AD and if a user changes email address or display name, that change is not reflected on the information added in SharePoint.

You can manually change this information in a SharePoint site easily by going to Site settings, View information about site users. There you can click on the user you want to change information on. (You need to be an Administrator, possible also site collection Administrator).

And you can ofcourse change this from SharePoint Central Administration pages aswell.

This might be solved by using AD groups instead of adding users individually (I have not checked this out propely though).

Cheers,
Thomas
