Gentlemen and Lady(ies),

Looking for 2 drivers for this particular poo-tastic machine. The video is a 915 Express or GMA 900, which are the same chipset. Ive looked on Intel's site and was able to pull a 64 bit XP Pro driver but Vista will not let me force install it. I know in XP you could pick whatever driver you wanted and tell it to install with it giving a warning but eventually installing it. Vista tells me its incompatible and doesn't install at all.

So, either I need to know how to force install in Vista, or actually find the video driver for Vista 64 bit, which I think doesnt exist according to any post on the net Ive found.

Video and Audio are all I need but it might be a loosing battle. Yes Ive checked emachines website, they don't even have Vista listed in the DL section.

It is a loosing battle, spend nearly 2 hrs. looking for a driver, and came up with zilch...

why not install a cheap graphic card that is supported under Vista 64bit?

as to the Audio driver, what is the DEV and possibly SubSys numbers, perhaps there is a driver from Realtek that covers Vista...

Yea, according to Intel the 915 support was discontinued after XP so no drivers. The video card would be the easiest route I agree. Was more worried about the video as I think I can get the Audio driver either from Realtek or Driverguide after popping it open to get the #s off it.

Thanks for looking and when I do open it up, Ill post the numbers found.

Found an old FX5200 and installed so the video issues are no more. Popped off the side of the case and since we work in a foundry, you couldnt read anything inside of it. Time for a cleaning anyway. After some air treatment, Ill post the chip numbers. It definitely is Realtek though because I did see the crab!

DrBob,

no problem, even though Intel said that it would provide a driver for Vista (with no AERO support, due to hardware limitations) they never did...

the audio driver should be covered by the latest RealTek R267 driver package. I took a look at the INF files for the XP driver and noticed that the DEV # was listed as 0880, 0260, and/or 0861, which I then cross referenced with the driver I have on my machine and the matching string is present in the 64bit Win7/Vista package...

let us know the outcome...
