Anyone have experience with the MAP product? It appears to be a PPP server w/chap authentication to allow port 80 and telnet/ftp) access to the systems via dial-up. Questions:

1) Does this allow full access to a 2K/3300 via IP without connection to corporate LAN/WAN?

2) Will EM be able to access all functionality through the MAP i.e., backups, alarm traps, mac, etc.?

Any other thought, comments on the MAP / EM combo appreciated.

I've installed quite a lot of these and they work well - but are very, very slow.
Basically you specify the address of the 3300/2k (up to 5 entries) and that is the only address you can browse to, so it's quite safe to put on your LAN. Once connected you have full ESM functionality, as if you were on site. SNMP traps can be sent to the 7100, they will tell you the severity of the alarm but no details.

When you say 'very, very slow', do you mean the 3300? 2K ports? Both? If the 7100 is not connected to lan, are all functions available (including alarm forwarding) available via dial-up?

3300 ESM performance is becoming a major issue...
