elphi with mysql 2

I'm trying to make an application with Delphi useing mysql database.
And it's not going anywhere!!!
Can someone please tell me the basic settings for those two and what components in Delphi should I use?
I try with dbExpress but User and Password dont work, I don't know why, and Delphi wants to go on-line, yet againg I DON'T KNOW WHY?

in your TDatabase component, set LoginPrompt to false. won't ask for user name or password.

delphi is trying to go online to get it's "newsletter update".

I'd suggest installing DAC for MySQL. I just started a project using it and so far so good.

No extra DLL's to distribute... BONUS!

Which version of Delphi, MySQL and LIBMYSQL.DLL are you using?

I use crlab MyDAC components (MySQl DataAccessComponents).

Now they released vers. 3.0 for D7 and D8.

No needs of DLL or ODBC. Connection is direct with Mysql from 3.23 to 5.0.

I use them as long as 7 months with great satisfaction.

They are not free.

You can try Zeos Library too (free)
