Regarding setting up a used NEC Elite 48. I am trying to connect with ksu through SAT 6.03 and am having difficulty. I have tried both a normal serial cable and null modem cable on com1, 38.4 kbps, 10-bits:8d/np/1s with password field blank. I have checked mem location 1 8 17 through the handset and it is blank so there is no PC Programming assignment password to lock me out. I there a special pinout cable I must use to get into the ksu? I welcome all suggestions.

I am also having difficulty with cosession remote to get into VMS-4. After the NEC America, Inc. screen and menu comes up, I hit f2 to signin and enter NEC with no password and it takes me back to the opening screen. Can I reset the VMS-4 to the factory defaults? I will be reprogramming the entire system from scratch.

I have all the manuals in pdf on cd but have not yet figured out how to get into the ksu and vm to setup. Thanks for your help with this as I am helping a friend set this up.

Instead of a blank password in SAT 6.03, enter PASSWORD in all CAPS.

As far as the voicemail, it looks like there is some kind of password, but I'm not sure how to crack it or reset it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I am able to get into the sat program with PASSWORD in all caps. This is not a problem. It is when I hit the connect on the pulldown menu that I am asked for a password or to leave blank. It is my understanding from the manual passwords can be up to 5 characters and I checked the Memory location on the a handset through programming mode to verify there is no password in 1.8.17. It seems to me it is a connection/rs232 issue but I am looking for suggestions.

As for the VM, a dealer I spoke to said it appears to have a pw programmed in and they could break it for $75.00 if I send them the card.

I am trying to see if I can get the password from the previous owner or installer.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

There is a reset jumper on the card! you have to strap a couple of jumpers and boot up then power off and put them back to log in normaly! I can't remember whitch jumpers witout looking at one.

Thanks for the response. I pulled the vms4 and looked at the card. There are 7 jumpers near the middle of the card. Non are straped. If you could tell me which ones I would appreciate it. Also I could email you a photo to help you explain which ones need to be jumpered? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon
