made the following changes to sendmail.cf
Dwhmis
#DmYourDomainName
#Dmorg
Cw localhost $w $?m$w.$m$. hmis.org
#Cm $m YourOtherDomainNames
# file containing names of hosts for which we receive email
#Fw-o /etc/sendmail.cw
attempted to send to local exchange address bob_schmid@hmis.org (a microsoft outlook nt email address... not defined on this AIX box)
change Dw to hmis and I can send out to the internet but AIX seems to think the address of bob_schmid@hmis.org is on my AIX box.
I need the domain to be simply hmis.org...not ifprodetn.hmis.org
ifprodetn is my AIX boxes hostname..I do not want AIX to
prepend the hostname onto the domain name and I also do not
want AIX "thinking" email address with hmis.org as the domain on local.
Here is my error message:
Cc: Warning: .cf file is out of date: sendmail AIX4.3/8.9.3 supports version 8, .cf file is version 7

Here's the bottom line.
Our domain is hmis.org defined for our hospital and is defined within an NY microsoft exchange server and DNS server.
I can use the Dwhmis and Dmorg or use Cw and hmis.org and the from address will be built appropriately and I can then send to email accounts out on the internet because hmis.org is a valid dns entry...but when I want to send to a local email account within our walls - ex micky.mouse@hmis.org....AIX errors out and says not a valid address. It isnt valid on AIX but it is on our Microsoft exchange server....how can I get AIX to not try to interpret these email addresses ?
