elements 2.0 will not install on new HP pavilion

Alas, my old computer died, and I'm now in the tedious process of reinstalling software on my new HP a1640n. When I insert the Photoshop Elements 2.0 disk, the welcome screen comes up, and the little progress bar in the "setup" window zips right up to 99%, and then it stalls. After a few minutes the screen goes away and the disk stops running altogether. Is 2.0 too antiquated for the new HP?
