Hi again...I have Element Manager version 2.07 on desktop, same at other end. I have been told that there is a newer version but can't find it. Anyone knows about this? Current version 2.07 has issues when remotely programming functions on a BCM400, it's verrrrry slow with 2.07. So looking for newer version. Thanks

Download the Excrement Mangler from the box you want to work on. There are so many versions now, it's difficult to know how well what you have will interact with the unit you need to mangle...errr...manage.

Thanks, but certainly not an answer or the the answer I was looking for. My initial post says I have 2.07 and same version at other end (meaning da box also has version 2.07)
Sorry if I wasn't clear, I need to know if there is a newer version out there?! Thanks

Thanks Steeef, did you get your version from the server or Nortel? Was that a while ago?
Actually, I'm wondering if you experence the same slow response remotely with 2.10?

imho the EM is slow in general :)
i got this version from a BCM4.0 after patching it with the latest OAM patches which include this version.
Patch name: BCM.R400.061-OAM-1.3-1.2

slow it is ...yes! thanks for this info. I will see what I can do with this.

Thanks Steeef

But in all of its slowness I still like it better than Unified Manager and must better than programming many of the old systems that I started out on. Remember that we are living in a fast paced society.

I have a few 4.0 installations where I doubled the system memory and added additional PEC cards under the theory that a PC runs faster with more memory.
I just tested again before posting, additional memory makes the boxes far more responsive. I have a couple with more memory and no additional PECs. They are just as fast so the PECs do not seem to have any impact on management speed. The first time I tried this was with an old 1000 where I maxed the memory, upgraded the CPU, replaced the hard drive with a 7200rpm 16meg cache drive, and maxxed out the PECS. That was one seriously fast unit. With all the mods I didn't dare ask my vendor to support it. Too bad.
