I have a client that has an Electra Elite 192 that has been in service for a long time. I think they even brought it over from their old building about 8 years ago. It is so old that they do not have caller ID on their phones. The handsets look like this model: NEC DTP-16D

I am wondering when this series and model was first introduced? They want to install a PRI and expand the system but I ma wondering if they really should invest in upgrading this if it pretty old. The have one control unit whit analog lines and abut 20 handsets.

Thanks!

Late 80's to early 90's was the era for the Elite 192. It morphed into the Electra Elite IPK, IPK-II and now the SV-8100. If you are considering adding a PRI, you will need to add a CLK chip to the CPU and possibly a 192 chip to increase the size from the basic 64 ports to 192 ports. You probably will also need to upgrade the CPU software. The only parts available will be used or refurbished, so reliability is in question. It's time to consider replacing the system. The cost to keep it and the lack of modern features alone should be enough reason. You can get an IP ready system for a reasonable cost today that will be supported and last another 10 years.

Where did you get the late 80s to early 90s? The 192 came out in late 1998. Even the E-pro2 came out sometime around 94 or 95. It lasted till about 2001/2002 and then the cpu was replaced with the IPK1. The 192 shared most of the features on the early IPK CPU starting with the 700 series software. It was a good system for the day. You could purchase an IPK-2 cpu and keep the PIM if you were looking to upgrade.

My dates are off, sorry. I was thinking Electra Professional. However you are correct you can upgrade to IPK-II processor, but now you can take it to the SV-8100 processor.
