Hey guys just getting started with NEC after Panasonic bit the dust and have a client that wants to swap their old NEC Electra Elite with a new SL2100. The system currently has 19 digital and 12 analog extensions and I am wondering what the easiest way to swap out without having to redo the punch blocks if necessary?

I assume the Electra uses amp cables where the 2100 uses 4 pair connectors. I have attached a few pics that show the existing wiring blocks.

Thanks in advance.

You can buy an installation cable from NEC. It has the ends for the system pre-set to an open amp 25pr end. Punch that down to your existing Electra Elite block skipping the second pair.

So are you saying the Electra uses 4 wires for each extension on the punch down? I thought it was only two.

Here is a picture of existing punch blocks but we did not install and are taking over as dealer went out of business.

Ya, "I" would just redo the frame with new tails off the 2100. So few phones just tone them out as you go. Trying to save a little time will cost you al lot more than it's worth IMHO. Just mark the old phones with post it notes and tone and punch. You will clean it up a lot and save your sanity IMHO.

Can anybody tell me if the amp cables on the NEC Electra Elite require a male or female amp cable?
