Our phone system sometimes gets voicemail calls that do not disconnect properly. Then they tie up a voicemail answering box and an incoming line. Is it possible to clear the busy line without restarting the entire system? A tech with the people we purchased the system from said to have the phone company add "automatic disconnect" to all our phone numbers but our phone company has no idea what they are talking about. Is there a way to tell the system to stop recording on a certain voicemail box? We have Electra Elite phones and an EliteMail VMS system. Thanks for your help.

The feature the tech was refering to is sometimes called supervision disconnect, and can be called many different things to different people. The phone company "should" know what you are talking about. The bad news is . . . if the phone company does not fix the issue there is no way in the system to automatically drop the line. The good news is that you can reset the CO card and drop the lines without having to reset the entire system. If you have the cover off look for the etching on the edge of the card that shows the "type" of card. You will need to look for a card called COI(4/8)-U10 or COID(4/8)-U10. After finding the card if you look on the other side there is a small black button. This is the reset for the individual card.
