electra elite 48 expansion

No. You have to access programming to assign the card (LK 7) and then to assign extension numbers (LK 4-10) and buttons (4-12) at the very least.

Is there a quick guide to do this programming I could reference.

If it is an Elite 48, make sure you have 8 spare ports available. Add up the trunks and stations, include the VM. Without the IPK chip you can only have 48 ports.

Right now there are 3 tel lines and 8 stations no voice mail in system. Do you program from the operator phone.

You can program from any display phone, but it is a different procedure to enter programming from them vs ports 01 and 02.

You can use only slots 3,4,5,6 for the station card expansion (esi-8). Use memory blocks 7-1 (card assignment), 7-2 (terminal assignment), 4-10 (extension number assignment), 4-12 (line key assignment) in that order will get you there more effeciently. There are other programming assignments to do depending what you want these extensions to perform as (such as ringing, hands free speakerphone, etc..). The IPK chip does not apply to the Electra 48 as it has the capability to have all 48 ports active out of the box (and only 48 ports maximum if it is truly the Elite 48) and all programming can be done from any display telephone on the system by the back door programming function (fnc #0*8974) not just ports 1 & 2 if it is not convenient to run down those first two ports. To identify the port # of a telephone just hit FNC+4 onthe dial pad and the display will tell you the extension # & port # of the telephone if it is a display telephone, if it us not a display telephone just go & get a display telephone fron another location and plug it in to that port to identify it. Don't worry about plugging a display phone into it as will not affect anything on the system. ETW style telephones have a FNC button but if you have the DTU style telephones they have the Feature button which are the same button on this system. Reply if you need any help.

I have a 48/192 esi-8digital station card #750210, will this work on the system.

Once I get into programming just start with those memory blocks that you quoted is that right.

NEC Electra Elite 48/192 ESI(8)-U10 ETU Digital Station Interface Card (750210) This is the part number that is available will this work. I only have to get one more digital station working.

Do you use the same code to program from ports 1&2 or is it different fnc#0*8974

Yes, You can use this programming access from any digital display telephone on the system.

Ican"t figure where the FNC is is it a button? fnc#)*8974

Sorry how do I enter information to get into programming fnc#0*8974 , could I get step by step to add 1 extension Avaya tech here need help, belevdere

Try, Feature, hold, #, 0, * from telephone ports 01 or 02. You can get a programming manual at FEATURE, #, 0, *, 8974 is a back door from any telephone port. Not published, but the system is no longer supported by NEC.
Once in program mode, press line key 7, then line key 1. The bottom line shows cabinet number (1), slot number (01) : xyz (current card assigned), starting port number = 01, above that is additional port numbers if it's an 8 port card. A line key should be lit to represent the card type. (ESI = station card). Use * or # to move the cursor left or right. Go to the slot number and input a vacant slot number.
Line key 1 lit = no assignment. Press line key 9 on a 16 button phone to assign a station card. Press TRF to write it. Press line keys 7 + 1 again to refresh then move the cursor under the slot number and enter the slot you just assigned, then note the port numbers. You will need that to assign a station number.
Press ANS key to back up in program. Press line key 4, then on the key pad dial 10 to get to extension numbering. Press CNF key to advance station ports, and look for an unassigned number. Careful, you can double assign number and get into trouble. Assign an unused number to the card/port just installed.

Thanks for your help I got into prog. but when I press lk 7 -1 nothing changes does that mean the system may be locked ? it is a spo16 /v6.00

Line key 7 then line key 1 should bring you to memory block 7/1. Can you get to any memory blocks? Try line key 4, then keypad dial 10 = extension numbering.
