if the server has a green light that says tape in use, and you eject that tape does the backup start over with a new tape, does it complete or will it be an error? why would it say in use from the backing up the previous night, it is a scheduled backup.

Hi,

there are so many uknowns to this problem you are seeing. Did you eject the tape through networker, or by manually ejecting the tape. If it was through networker, then the backup had probably finished, and just not updated the screen. Or, the save process might have terminated, but for some reason networker doesn't realise this. This usually locks the tape drive up until the services are stopped/started.
If the backup was merely waiting for another tape, then by ejecting and loading a new tape, the backup will continue from where it left off.
You dont say whether or not you use a jukebox or a standalone drive. I assume this is NT, and not W2K.

I hope the above helps Cheers
