I have a storagetek 9730 tape library, with Veritas BackupExec 9.1.

At the end of each backup job, I'd like to automatically eject the tape so that it can be stored offsite.

However, when I tick the checkbox "eject media" in the backup job, it doesn't eject the tape. It just ignores the option.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Eject media will not work on libraries. You need to setup export/import jobs. All depending on the library if it has a mail slot the export may/may not be useful

OK, how do I get veritas to identify the last used tape to export it from the library?

i am trying to erase my backup tape it is giving me this message 4MM000031 overwrite protected.

Look at the job log to identify the media user or run one of the reports.

But how can you automate BE to check the last used media and export that tape??? Kinda defeats the purpose of automating if you have to check the media name yourself and export it...

You can't do this automatically in 9.x and below.

With Be 10 however, you can setup a Policy, in that Policy the last template to use is the Export Media template. This will export media used by a particular backup job.
