Hello

With a number of our clients we have had the problem of the tapes not ejecting after a failed backup. Is there a way to eject them without restarting the server as this is the only way we have found to get around this problem.

Cheers

What kind of tape drive are you using?

A range of different ones but more often than not DLT tape drives.

Stop the Backup Exec services. Then restart service, should allow you to eject tape without restarting server.

Cheers for the reply but unfortuatley we have tried that as well!

Are you physically pressing the eject button on the tape drive or using the eject command from Backup Exec?

I have tried both options but it does not spit it out, it is only sometimes that it happens after a failed job. It looks as though it will come out but then stops and just sits there.

Have you tried powercycling the tape device & then pressing the eject button.

No i have not but i will give that ago this afternoon!

I will let you know how it goes.

cheers
