Hi everyone -

[Running 6.6 SP 1998.12]

Each of my jobs are set to run nightly. I recently had to restore some files for a user. For some reason, after this recent restore, my other jobs (when complete) will not eject the media any longer.

I thought, ok . . . maybe I just need to re-submit the jobs. I ensured the "Eject Media" box was checked in each job's options (which it was) and re-submitted the jobs.

Still - no media will eject from my jobs that are scheduled to run nightly. No settings/updates/patches have been applied or changed. Suggestions ??

Thanks in advance ~

I assume that other than that the backup is fine. How about something simple, rebooting the server, I've had some strange SCSI controller probs that went away after a reboot....Just a thought.

Good Luck,

Mark ;-)

Mark -

I will give it a try. But your right, everything else is working fine.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'll will just add my 2 cents contribution to this thread : if you own an external drive or tape library, remember to switch it off and make a COLD reboot of your server. Then turn them on again, the SCSI chain will be reinitialized correctly.

Hope this helps,
LST

That is a very good point LST, a complete power off of server & tape drive is important to rule out SCSI problems (as long as the controller hasn't completely failed).

Cheers,

Mark ;-)

Thanks Mark, I can see we have the same experience with SCSI things! :)

Moreover, another thing I've learned is to check CA's Certified Device List BEFORE buying a drive or library! This is really important for newbies, before spending a lot of bucks in a hardware that needs a new version of the software! Sometimes, a patch is also available to make ARCserve compatible with your device.
