I am a graphic designer who is looking to replace my CRT. I just purchased a Eizo Flexscan L997 which is lovely. But a few people have suggested I would prefer cinema display width such as the CE240W. But I have heard it does not have good angle viewing and may not support typography very well. I need very sharp typography, color accuracy and I also need to do some animation work, but I can't quite afford the CG210. Any suggestions? Should I stick with the L997? Is there a better option? Does Eizo make a cinema display that I should consider? Eizo reps have not been much help.

I would appreciate any help. This is a tough decision.

If you're happy with what you have, stick with it and don't worry what others tell you to buy.

Recently my beautiful 21" Appple Studio Display (CRT) died. I came upon a $400 20" Viewsonic wide screen that seemed excellent. I could not see any difference between it and the Apple or Samsung monitors, so I bought it. I assume that some would tell me that you cannot use such a cheap monitor for graphics, but it calibrated beautifully and has superb clarity.

A recent issue of Mac User reviews 11 Flat Screen displays. The Apple 23" Cinema Display came out quite low in the results.

Best buys were, from memory, a Dell screen and an LG one (because it was very low cost and excellent quality). Eizo and LaCie also did well, but their kit was alot more expensive so didn't get the top award.
