Hi there. My old SCSI drive has broken. I've bought a EIDE drive to replace it. I've fitted it all, but when I go to install win2000 on it, it comes up with the error: "scsi boot device not found". Does anyone know if it's possible to get my computer to recognise my IEDE drive now that the SCSI drive is not there anymore? (I've connected it to the IDE#1 slot on my motherboard - is that wrong?)

Cheers. Any help much appreciated.

Adam.

Do you have boot order in CMOS? Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

It allows me to access some SCSI setup options by pressing F8 (or F6 - can't remember) I'm not very technical when it comes to things like that, but it doesn't mention EIDE or IDE in any of the options.

What edfair is saying is that your bios is probably set to boot from scisi only and simply requires the boot order to be altered and saved.
I usually set IDE 0,floppy then CDrom.
IDE 0 is your primary channel (the one your new hard drive is connected to) so this is the first boot device.
You usually have to press the Delete button just after first screen on boot,(but look, it will tell you what to press to get you into setup bios)
once into bios set boot sequence as mentioned, save and exit.
A new IDE drive will new fdisking and formatting before running windows setup, have you done this?
Will post further info if required. Martin Just trying to help, sometimes falling short, I am only human after all.
