I am a longtime Norstar Tech, but I have never worked on BCM. I don't even know how to access programing. I assume I must use the IP then we have login and pw info. It has Edge 1000 on the side and multi colored ports. If I plug my laptop in can I access programing and is it simular to Norstar?
Where would I plug in at? Into the network or the system itself? Any help is greatly appreciated...

Plug into the network to which the unit is attached.

Navigate to it's IP address (add :6800) if it is rel 2.5 or older.

Click on documentation and download all of the docs for the BCM onto your computer.

If it has been upgraded to 4.0 ...you may use the phone to program (very similar to Norstar)

By colored ports are you referring to keyboard/mouse, serial/ parallel/ monitor ...etc ports ...only thing useful in that is the serial port(9600/8/n/1/n) which you can use to find the IP address information on a working system

(+ some other things when the web server is not functional)
