Are there any negative effects on the end user when doing an INI or SYSLOAD? Can someone explain what could be effected by them. Thanks.

If you have a good running system then an INI should not affect anyone who is connected on a call. It will however affect anyone in the process of making a call. The INI should only take about 15 or so seconds. A SYSload will take down the whole system. Note you should not do either to many times in a short period of time though. Because you could corrupt the software.

It has been a long time since an INI only takes 15 or so seconds. Try more like a minute to a minute and a half. It depends on what type of system and how large it is. The previous answer is correct about it not affecting call already in progress. Sometimes if you are on a PRI call and the D Channel releases and reestablishes, calls can disconnect. A SYSLOAD will take the switch down and ALL calls will disconnect. It could take up to 5 minutes to do a sysload depending again on the size of the system.

INI also drops calls on hold, parked calls, and queued calls.

On older systems a sysload can take 20 minutes or longer on a large 61 or 81
