Hi I've just put up a page to promote a new dance release.

We are arguing whether its effective, or is just going to anoy people.

If you have some seconds, would you be able to have a peak and let me know:

- is the idea sound
- does it inspire you to click play

- its targeted for high connection spead, but there is a dialup version option

Its has 2 different tracks, at 2 different streaming rates.

It also has an 'email a media version to a friend' feature and I think its quite funky. Which embeds the whole thing so it can be played from inside an email, without launching a browser.

The web version:
To send it to friends, and to preview what its like embedded in an email:

looks alright. There are a few usability things here that could be taken care of but I find it's a cool page.

There is one problem that is very annoying though. Could you add volume="10%" (I'm not sure how to tell the media player to start at 10% volume.

I had the mishap of trying one of the songs and the cat hates me now. Gary Haran

Hi again Gary, what level was your sound at?

I can set it to 10%, but then it would start really quiet.

Maybe just a warning that it's hard trance? :0)

What are the usability things?

Hi mate,

One thing. When a user sends the track to a friend, WHY do you subscribe that person to a mailing list? You are making the site look like another spam magnet.

I just sent a mail from the site, receive a mail telling me that I need to send a mail to be removed. If I received that from someone then I would delete it and filter the address.

Not once does it mention that it is a mailing, other than a single e-mail. Don't try to trick users otherwise you end up losing out yourself.

Hope this helps Wullie

I don't subscribe anyone to anything. I just track who has looked at things, to show the conversion to the clients.

NoOne gets to see the emails, they are used only to identify a user thought the site. I could have generated GUI's but I couldn't be bothered for such a small project.

No one gets spammed, no emails get added to anything.

I hate spam! Spammers could all be burned. Well may be that's a little harsh. They sould have there hands cut off. NO..no did it again. They shouldn't spam. (finally).

I put the remove thing in because the people launching it could not confirm to me that they were sending it to an opt in list...

I've taken the remove thing off.

If I'd had time, I would have requested an email so that friends new who had sent the email.

But, they could just make up an email - then I would have had to build a registration thing.

It isn't designed to send to huge lists, just to a couple of mates. (in which case, I should have added a message bit), but then I would have need to put a abuse script to remove harsh words and stuff).

I did this for free, so the client got a fairly skeletal system.

But, I will make any quick changes that you may suggest...

Cheers,
