effect around the border of a picture

Hi,

Can you tell me how to make an effect around a picture (with an ellipse form) who appear like a blur or like a smoke effect.
Something like the picture on this url:
(it's just a corner of an image).

This is a vignette.

Select the elliptical selection tool, set the feather option to 10-50 pixels, then select the image area you want. Go to Select>Inverse. Make sure your background color is white and then hit the delete key.

There is a better way to do this with layer masks but this will get you the 'ooh that's cool' effect quickly.
