edits disappear in WP12 and X3

When one of my users is typing, she'll look away to read or do something, when she returns to the screen it has reverted to the saved info in the document. If she saves constantly the problem does not appear.

We are running WP12 on Windows XP (some using novell servers, some stand alone). Certain users will edit their WP documents. After editing a sentence, when they click in another part of the file, the edit will change back to the original text. For instance, if they delete a word, as soon as they click another spot in the file, the word will reappear. The issue does not occur after every edit. Only occassionally. It has happened to more than 1 user, so we do not think it is a user error. And it will not happen if the user saves the file after editing but before clicking another spot in the file.

template files have been deleted and recreated upon start up. Anyone have a clue?
We've tried to reimage the machine, delete and recreate her profile, give her a new PC, reinstall WP12.
This issue would also occur when we had WP9, were on NT servers, and were using Windows 2000 Pro as the operating system.
Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info, I'd be happy to share

You said some of the computers are on a network? This is a shot in the dark without any more information, but are the files that are being edited shared among users? Are the files marked as read-only, and do the users have read/write permissions on the files?
Again, sorry for the vagueness, but those are what jumped to mind after reading the questions.
