I'm learning to edit with gvim and practicing on a friend's website. He knows even less than I do, having hired a guy who never finished the job to do his site. So we are like the blind leading the blind!

I tried downloading the site into FrontPage because that's what I'm used to, but it wouldn't do right, so was referred to gvim by a friend. The site has got all kinds of stuff on it like javascript that's way over my head, so all I'm trying to do is change some of the text and load some images. I've got the text edited, which was easy. Have not tried to deal with images yet, though.

My question is how to to upload the changes into the website when I'm done. Probably a dumb question, but I dunno.[ponder]

You would use an FTP package, unless gvim (is that a website editor?) has a built-in upload function (I'd check the gvim website for information about this).

Hope this helps,,
Dan

Dan,
FYI, Vim (gvim is the graphical version) is a just text editor. It has syntax coloring for practically every programming language under the sun, nice regular expression capabilities, and is highly scriptable, but it's not geared toward any particular kind of development.

Ok, so I think I hear you saying that vim won't load images or upload the finished product?

How do I get FTP? Is it expensive or is there a cheapie way to go here?

Thanks much!

Thanks, Lee. I downloaded CoreFTP. It looks a little scary, but I expect I can figure it out. [glasses]
