I have two different web sites. In IE6 one has the Front Page icon in the task bar and will edit using Front Page. The second web site shows a book or text editor, but will not even edit with that. And, it does not offer Front Page as an editor. Both web sites have been able to edit with Front Page in the past. Not anymore. I've run Office 2002 repair and it does nothing to help.

I've looked thru this forum for a similar question, but can't find it. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply.

It has been happening for months. Re-booting and one instance of IE6 is not the cause. I've gone to the same url for work on my web site for months...years, and several months ago the FrontPage icon is not there anymore in the task bar. I have to run FrontPage from Program files. I realize my task bar buttons shouldn't change, but at some point they did. I just don't know what to do to get my FrontPage icon back on my IE6 task bar when I go to that url. It is there on my other web site url.

I think Microsoft recognizes it as a problem, but I don't understand their solution.

I didn't mean to sound like this isn't a problem for you at all - and I said "Shouldn't" which never means that it doesn't :) Oddly - I just looked up on my IE6 on this page and sure enough - no FP edit icon.

So - could you post the two URLs that you mention - the one with and the one without the icon - wonder if there is no icon for me as well. I'll look into this some more too.

I found this on another frontpage help forum.

Hi Ferran,

Try this: Clear the Browser temporary internet and history files. I believe you will then see the edit icon available again.
