we are just starting to use CW2k and are using a lot of the reports. Most reports have the "Device Name" as an identifier. Currently all of our switches are showing the IP address in this field. We'd like to edit this field and put in a more "user friendly" name, but can't seem to figure out where that field is, much less edit it. Any help greatly appreciated.

I know for sure in the DFM portion, but this may be the case in the straigt CW server is that the name is the unique identifier. That names is calculated during the network discovery which uses DNS or your host file. You may be able to edit it, but it would change back during the next discovery.

The trick is to add all you devices to DNS and then manually add them to RME. The new entries will show up as a conflict device. at that point you get to choose which one you want to keep. (Keep the imported one)
