I have been trying to modify the BOOT.INI file, but cant find it.
I did the following:_
Modifying Folder Options
1. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click View.
3. In the Advanced Settings area, click to select the Show hidden files and folders check box, click to clear the Hide protected operation system files (Recommended) check box, click OK, and then click OK.
4. In the left pane, click to select the %systemroot%, right-click Boot.ini in the display pane, and then click Properties.
5. Click to clear the Read-only attribute check box, and then click OK.

But dont see %systemroot% or boot.ini.

Am I missing something?

Don't get you. You say you do not see boot.ini but then you say "right-click Boot.ini in the display pane, and then click Properties" so surely if you can do that then you can see the file. Bit confused

Goto System icon in control panel. Click on advanced tab and then click on the settings button within the startup and recovery pane. There is an edit option there to edit the boot.ini

I have done a search for BOOT.INI not found.

1. to 5. above are the instructions I was following to try and edit the BOOT.INI file. See link

I dont have that option.

Confused?!?

there must be a boot.ini and I gave you instructions for XP and it has been that long since I used W2K prof that I cannot remember if it is the same or not but obviously not.
go to a command prompt and type dir boot.ini /s from the root of C: and see what that brings up.
When it appears just go edit c:\.......\boot.ini.
