Hi

I used to use Crystal about 7 years ago, but my knowledge is really rusty so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

I have a report which is running okay on our live dataset. However we need to run it on a test dataset instead - different database name but the same tables & views etc.

When I look at the SQL query itself, one of the tables is being referred to with the database owner in front of the table name, RELOCATION, but all of the others aren't. I then tried using Set DataSource Location but this isn't working - and the properties against the tables here show an Owner for the RELOCATION table but none of the others.

Is there a way of manually updating the SQL to remove the owner from the statement, or can I somehow remove the owner from the datasource properties?

I'm using Crystal 11.

Thanks

You can't edit the query directly like you could in Crystal 7. Is the report running on a command or on tables?

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Oh, and what happens when you try to Set Location?

Hi

Thanks for replying. The report is running on tables and views.
When I use the Set Location, it looks like it is going to work but doesn't.

The problem I have is that I might want to send this report out to different customers who will have their own datasets with identical table names.

Thanks

How is the report being run?

Also, Set Location can act funny...Sometimes you have to click on the table/view in the top, the matching table/view in the bottom, and then click on "Update". Other times you can do it by connection following the same process. Double-clicks on things don't do anything.

If you cannot set the datasource manually you can check one of these tools, which can be used to change the datasource and save the report with the new one

1. 2. 3.
You can check this link for reviews for the first 2:

Viewer, scheduler and report manager for Crystal reports and SSRS.
