Editing purchased buttons

My manager purchased a drop-down menu for DMX. The buttons are all 'button 1" "button 2" etc.

We have fireworks 4. When we load the button and right-click, we do not get an editor option. If we try to fill the original letters and then add text, the button gets distorted.

We can see layer information on the upper right hand side, with text listed as the middle layer, but I can't figure out how to edit the existing text.

Any help greatly appreciated...

Try selecting the text layer in the box at the upper right hand corner. Then you should be able to edit it.
