editing properties for controls on multipage

I'm trying out my sister's VB 6. She lost her manual. (Great) I can't figure out why it won't let me edit the properties for controls I have placed on a multipage. It just keeps selecting the whole multipage and displaying its properties rather than the properties for the controls within it. It's driving me nuts!!!!
