Editing photoshop document in Freehand

I am trying to edit a photoshop document in Freehand MX; I open the document and select it but nothing happens when I try to apply effects. What do I need to do to make this work?

You need to provide more information: What kind of file format are you saving to in Photoshop? Photoshop and Freehand are apples and oranges one being bitmap, the other vector based.

Oops. Sorry. I have tried exporting .tif, .psd and .eps file formats from photoshop to freehand. I did get it to export an eps from freehand to photoshop but not the other way around.

didnt think u can edit photos in freehand, its a vector drawing tool

You can't edit your Photoshop file in Freehand, you will have to do it in Photoshop then when you open in Freehand the file will update in Freehand to show the changes.
