editing letterbox and widescreen in pro

I recently shot some video in letterbox and my partner shot in widescreen. I captured both in their original format and later tried to re-interpret the footage but it's not working. Is there anything that I can do to make them work together?

You will need to decide which of the two formats you will use for your final output.

Having made that choice, place you footage on the timeline as usual.

The clips which do not match the chosen output format will (by default) have black sides or tops so that the whole of the picture is on screen.

You can then use Motion to zoom in sufficiently to give a full-screen picture if you prefer, with the loss of areas which then are off screen.
