Is it possible to edit imported vectors from Illustrator, using their original anchor points and bezier curves to modify their shape?

Dont 'place' the image. In Illustrator if you /edit/copy an image with a working path then /edit/past it right into Indesign you can you modify the points in Indesign . It treats the image as if if were drawn in Indesign. And there is no image link. You cant do this with a 'placed' image. You can also cut and past Photoshop's 'custom shapes'
