I am writing an application in Access that will allow a user to design reports. The user will select a view from the database, then select the appropriate fields from the field list. However, I want to remove some of the fields based on the user.

Is this possible? Can I control which fields are in the field list? Any help is appreciated. -Chris Didion

Some information is not included in your inquiry. You state that you are writing a report generator in Ms. Access (Note NOT FOR Ms. Access, but IN Ms. Access?). But, If you are writting the report generator, then YOU are developing the fields list presented to the user. Ipso Ergo, You have control over how that is generated, using whatever info is at hand. So what is the question? Can You ... ? OF COURSE!

On the other hand: book one, page one, rule one appears to apply here as well.

(For the un-initiated,

Book one, Page one, Rule one: "Be smarter than the equipment (object) you are operating").

Whatever is in those 'other' columns must be REALLY sensitive and important to go to the effort of re-inventing the entire Ms. Access report designer tool!
