Hi,
I just loaded Crystal Reports Version 11. I was previously using Version 8.5. I am trying to use version 8.5 reports in version 11 and I'm having problems editing the query.
I can't edit the report's SQL query through the 'Show SQL Query' dialog box in version 11 as I used to in version 8.5 and when I use the the 'Select Expert' dialog box, the query information is either not listed or incomplete. If I try to enter information in the 'Select Expert' in the hopes of overwriting the the corresponding information in the report sql query, it doesn't work.
[yinyang]Is there any way to "unlock" my version 8.5 report sql queries for editing in version 11?

Thanks in Advance for any Help!

Try using "add command". Go to database->database expert->your datasource->add command. You can copy your former SQL query into the add command area, and/or create command objects that you can then link to the main report tables. As far as I know there is no other way in XI to directly alter the SQL query (database->show SQL query), other than through using commands, selection formulas, or SQL expressions.

Editing the SQL was never a good diea in CR 8.5,as with using the CR 8.5 queries, they're destined to go away, and they were proprietary technology.

The big advantage to the method LB suggests is that you can add parameters to the SQL, but you'd be much better served long term to build database objects (Views or Stored Procedures) to simplify maintenance, allow for reusability, and not get burned if this embed it in the client functionality goes away in the future.
