I have an .oft file that I need to edit it... when I double click on it, it just loads it... how can I get into it to edit it?

That is correct - the file should load. You edit the file and then save over the original. There is no special "edit" mode for .oft files as far as I know.

HTH,

I am totally unexperienced at working with these... let me ask you this... this .oft has a form in it. And you fill out the form and when you send it, it also sends along some other text in the email that is not in the form??? where would this text be so that I can take it out??

I appologize, I thought you were working with a file that was just an e-mail .oft file, not a Form .oft file. In order to edit the form open it and go to Tools-Forms-Design this form. A button should appear on your toolbar to View Code (you may need to add this button if it doesn't appear). Go into the code, find the text that you want to remove and delete.

Let me know if that helps.

ok here's the deal: I go into Tools>Forms>Design This Form>Edit Read Page....

I need to edit some text that is in the body section of the email as a default.

...and it does not show up in view code... it's just like default text that is there in the body....

Can you see this text when you go into Edit mode, or does it appear only after the Form is sent? If you can see it in Edit mode delete it where you see it.

I see when I am editing and have selected "Edit Read Page" The first tabe says "Message" On this there is a box that looks like the body of the Email With this text I wish to change in it... I can not get the text cursor in there to change the text... I can only delete the whole box... but I do that and then save but it still shows up... My guess is that you can not delete the body text field so while it looks like it has been deleted- it really isn't...

How can I get my cursor in there to edit the text?

Right-click and select Edit.

For saving the document -- Make sure you do a File-Save As to save the document and not a File-Save. Just saving the document will place it in your Inbox (You dont want it here). Make sure you do a Save As.

thanks for the save-as tip...

I do not have an edit option upon right-click????

Then do a slow double-click on the text box. It sounds weird but let me explain. Its kind of like when you are in Windows Explorer working with files...One click selects the file, two clicks opens the file, but a slow double-click allows you to change the title. By slow double-clicking on your text box it should insert the cursor.

Ugh... no... thanks though... I do have a tab that is labeled "All Fields"... In this I have the "Cc" which lists who is being cc'ed and the "To" which lists who this is being sent to. The field I am trying to edit is labelled "Message" Now this one does not show up under all fiedls. I know it is named message because I can drag it from the "Field Chooser" and there it will be with its default text... now under "All Fields" there is something named "Message Class" with the value "IPM.Note"

Does that mean anything... thanks for all of your help

OK...This will finally make it work. I did a test and here's what I found...

If you want to change what the text box says you'll have to open the form regularly (not in edit mode), change the text and then Save As. Go back into the Form and go into Edit Mode and the text should be updated.

For some reason you can't edit message fields in Edit Mode.

Let me know if that works.

Beautious... I had to work around it a little bit because it does not show up till it is actually sent- but I got it workin' thanks to you...
