Editing a mandatory profile to NOT display hidden files and folders?

I have inherited a system where the users all have a .man mandatory profile stored on a share. For some reason this is set to display hidden files and folders.

I am unfarmiliar with profiles, how can i edit this so it doesnt display hidden files?

I have been trying it this was

change NTuser.man on the share to .dat


login and make the change not to display hidden files

logout

login to the server and change .dat back to .man


problem is .dat doesnt seem to update when i make the change on the workstation!!!

help!!
 
Is this not something you could push out with a Group Policy?
